Meet Shermon

Shermon Ortega Cruz is a senior professional futurist, an educator, governance and policy consultant, and a risk management and business continuity management professional and thought leader. Shermon has collaborated with the best in the futures field in designing transformative and cutting edge global and local events and projects that integrate foresight, creativity, experimentation, and innovation.

He is the Founder, Chief Futurist, and Executive Director of the Center for Engaged Foresight, Chair and Board of Director of the Association of Professional Futurists and Co-founder and Vice President of the Philippine Futures Thinking Society, Chair of the Millennium Project Philippines Node and a Supervising and Research Fellow at the Development Academy of the Philippines Graduate School of Public and Development Management Futures Thinking Course.

Shermon is a UNESCO Futures Literacy Senior Curator and Global Expert, The conference chairperson of the 6th Asia Pacific Futures Network Futurists Conference and a Regional Editor of the Journal of Futures Studies published by the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, Tamkang University and a Business Continuity Management and Risk Management Consultant for John Clements Consultants Inc.

He is a full member of the Asia Pacific Foresight Group organized by CSIRO’s Data 61, Australia’s leading data innovation group, a member of the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF), and co-founder of the Asia Pacific Futures Network (APFN). He is formerly a select member-advisor of Accenture Future Leaders Council in the Philippines and a recipient of the. 2013 World Social Science Forum and the International Social Science Council Emerging Social Scientists.

He previously served as risk management and business continuity management country location leader, manager, and senior analyst for companies like EY, PwC, and Accenture.

Shermon was formerly the executive director of the Philippine Foresight Education and Innovation Research and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University Laoag.
